Dear Patients, there is a global shortage of blood testing equipment and the NHS has been affected by this.

Blood tests will therefore be severely limited and this will affect many routine blood tests that we do. This problem is affecting every GP surgery and NHS hospital. Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems, will still get one but you may be asked to come back for a test at a later date, or your appointment may be rescheduled.

Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date when this situation will improve but we are being advised that this will affect blood testing processes until end of September 2021 at least.
